Life in a European cultural enclave

The inhabitants of Madrid are proud of their city and there is much to be proud of, something you will discover if you decide to go looking for a property for sale in Madrid. Gran Via is a large road crossing the city and it is full of cars all hours of the day, like a pulsating artery that never stops. Even at 4 am it is full of people looking for a café or a bar to make a last stop before bedtime. On December 31st thousands of people meet in Plaza del Sol in central Madrid to count down to midnight. And of course, it is only in Madrid you can have a meal in the world’s oldest restaurant, Botín.

Many of the international buyers deciding to go looking for a property for sale in Madrid do so because of all the various activities on offer in the city. Buyers who look for a property for sale in central Madrid instead of looking on the outskirts will have to pay a premium but will also receive a higher return on investment due to the excellent rental opportunities. Madrid is one of the cities where the laws against short term lets have been very relaxed resulting in a booming buy to let market. Long term this may prove to be a problem especially to more socially disadvantaged groups. But if you are an international buyer looking for a property in Madrid as an investment this is an exceptionally good time; although the prices have recovered since the financial crises in 2008, the rental market is very robust. Those who are interested in looking for a property for sale in Madrid but have a smaller budget may want to look on the outskirts of Madrid where you can find properties in all price brackets.
