Mazarrón

Beaches along 35 km of coast

Mazarrón, with over 35,000 inhabitants, is one of the main summer spots of Costa Cálida, probably only lagging behind La Manga. Although for decades it was a traditional destination for Spanish tourism coming from the Murcia province and other areas of the Spanish inland, in recent years a growing number of international expats have come to understand the appeal of this coastal town, and today over 15% of the town’s inhabitants are international expats that at some point have decided to buy a property in Mazarrón. British, German and Belgian are the main communities here and many have clustered around the Camposol urbanization in Puerto Mazarrón.

It is easy to understand why more international visitors are looking for a property for sale in Mazarrón. With over 35 km coast and an incredible variety of beaches in the area, this is a real summer paradise that is not so affected by overcrowding as other holiday spots in Spain. And some these beaches are spectacularly beautiful. For example, the Playa Bolnuevos is famous for the incredible natural rocky sculptures formed by wind erosion. Among the many other beaches that surround Mazarrón, we like specially Playa Percheles and Playa Calnegre. Mazarrón has a main urban core a couple of kilometers inland from the coast, as well as second detached part of the town right by the sea, which is known as Puerto de Mazarrón. Both parts have their fair share of restaurants and bars although, as expected, Puerto de Mazarrón gets the lion share of entertainment spots. As with other coastal towns, the activity level greatly decreases during winter, when a veil of tranquility covers the town, and the beaches can be enjoyed leisurely by the privileged few who have retired from working life.

Besides the usual variety of water sports, the Mazarrón area also offers great hiking and nature related activities at Parque Nacional Sierra Espuña, or even thermal waters at Termas de El Saladillo, as well as many spots with archeological reminders of the historical Carthaginian presence in the area. If you finally decide to buy your Spanish property in Mazarrón, you will enjoy plenty of outdoors activities in an incredibly wide variety of beaches around town.
