Originally, Carboneras was a typical fishing village, and even if fishing still is an important part of the economy the town has widen its scope for income. Carboneras is a Spanish town in every sense and in summertime there are many local tourists coming from inland for some cooler weather by the sea. The beach promenade comes to life with pretty stands selling souvenirs and knick-knacks. There are several very nice fish restaurants by the beach. They are popular, and it is a good suggestion to check availability beforehand. Since Carboneras has desert climate it gets very hot in the summer and many spend the afternoons indoors and more time outside when it is cooler, and the sun has set.
