El Campello

Yet another little known oasis

Playa del Campello, known as Muchavista, is the natural continuation of the Playa de San Juan, further south. As you go further from Alicante to look for a property for sale the prices come down. There is less competition for the properties at the same time as you get everything Spain has to offer, closeness to Alicante, authentic Spanish charm, sea and mountains. In fact, if you have risen a Saturday morning with bursts of energy after a good breakfast with some “tostada” (toast with oil and tomato) and orange juice (freshly squeezed Valencian oranges, of course) you many decide to walk along the entire stretch of San Juan Beach.

You may not even notice when you pass the Muchavista del Campello beach as there is no distinct changeover, one part just blends into the next. Here, the combination of water and sand is still perfect, and the views also show a harmonious blend of the Mediterranean Sea with the majestic mountains of the north. And on the Paseo Marítimo, of course, the succession of bars and beach bars continues. What you will notice is that, with the greater distance to the centre of Alicante, the number of new building developments decreases, meaning the atmosphere here is a bit more genuine and traditional than the southern area. If you liked the area of San Juan, Playa Muchavista in El Campello can be a good alternative to look for a property for sale. Here you will also find the town of Campello, a genuine Valencian enclave that offers a fishing port (of course, with its fish market where you will find the freshest produce) and a marina. You can’t miss the marina, it being dominated by the towns symbol, the Torre de la Illeta, a watchtower built in the 16th century to watch for attacks of the Berber pirates. And should you ever need to leave you can easily get in to Alicante, both by car and by the TRAM system, which can take you even farther, to Benidorm. El Campello certainly is a little gem not to be missed!
