5 Favourite Places in Andalusia – MiMove Gives a Tour!

MiMove on 2021-05-21

When looking for your dream home in Andalusia, you usually know of one or a few places here, but probably far from all. Therefore, this week MiMove wants to give you a tour around southern Spain and some of our personal favorite spots.

Before we start the route, we would like to mention that in all our property listings there are also area guides for the particular area in which the home is located. You will find the area guide at the bottom of the ad right below the photo album:

Nueva Andalusia

As part of western Marbella, Nueva Andalusia is one of the Costa del Sol’s best places to enjoy life. The town is associated with the good life in Spain. Here there is tranquility coated with a touch of luxury, cozy residential areas in typical Andalusian style, and many nice restaurants. The area is fairly close to Puerto Banús marina and a short walk down to the beach.

Nueva Andalusia

Every Saturday there is a street market that offers everything from plants to hats. The marketplace is along the entire street from the bullring up to Centro Plaza. Centro Plaza is a shopping center consisting of a number of shops, restaurants, bars, cafes, a large modern gym, and a supermarket. See our range of properties in Nueva Andalucía here. Estepona

We look past the neighboring town about 10 minutes drive west of Nueva Andalusia and end up in Estepona. Although it is close by, there is a different “air” here and a feeling that nature is more untamed. In addition to the cozy old town with its geranium-covered white walls, nice cafes, and the classic beach walk, you can also visit Estepona’s mountain peak. Up here you end up above the clouds and can enjoy a magnificent view of the mountains and the sea. There are also hundreds of waterfalls and if you are lucky you can see some animals, such as goats and birds.

On our way up to the mountain of Estepona

The city has made a major investment in urban gardening and the decoration of flowers and plants. There is also an impressive botanical garden and an orchid greenhouse that has a seventeen-meter-high waterfall, so it is easy to understand that Estepona deserved to be called the Garden of the Sun Coast. Here you can get to know Estepona better. Should you be interested in looking around among vacant homes, you are welcome to do so here.

Mijas

Now we head east and about 45 minutes drive later we end up in Mijas. With its 150 square kilometers, Mijas is one of the largest municipalities in the province of Málaga. Like Benalmádena, Mijas offers those looking for a house or apartment in Spain two very different options – Costa de Mijas along the coast and Mijas Pueblo among the mountains. If you like a quiet village life surrounded by nature, secluded but still relatively close to amenities then Mijas Pueblo is worth considering. On the other hand, if the beach life attracts you more, the coastal part is a wonderful place with an international spirit and includes many lovely spots worth visiting. Mijas is also known for its many fine golf courses. Read more about charming Mijas here. Find your dream home in Mijas here!

Mijas Pueblo

Salobreña

We continue the drive east, past the city of Málaga, and arrive at the Costa Tropical and Salobreña. The coastal village offers an exciting contrast of colors. It is a joy to walk through the labyrinth of alleys and passages with names that bring around the memories of the time when the city was a defensive stronghold for Granada, which then belonged to the Arab kingdom.

Moonshine in Salobreña

If we continue our walk, we end up at the medieval castle, from where we can enjoy a fantastic view of the plantations and the sea. The town also offers an Andalusian flamenco festival, a traditional pilgrimage, and a holy week full of joy and traditions. There are also wonderful beaches and cliffs to explore during summer days. Torrevieja

Torrevieja, as the name suggests, is the old tower of the Mediterranean. An hour’s drive, south of Alicante, lies Torrevieja which, along with all the other resorts on Orihuela Costa, is loved by both tourists and residents from all corners of the world; British, French, Belgians, Scandinavians, Russians, Dutch, and Moroccans to mention some. The total population of the city of Torrevieja is about 100,000 of which 55 percent are non-Spaniards. During the summer, the number of people in Torrevieja quadruples.

Cliffs and the sea in Torrevieja

Here you will find homes at perhaps the best prices along the entire Spanish south coast, and many of the budget-friendly homes are new constructions. Here you will find our selection of nice villas, apartments, and townhouses in Torrevieja. Read more about this charming town here!
