Marbella - San Pedro and Guadalmina

Appealing San Pedro and Guadalmina

San Pedro de Alcántara is located in the municipality of Marbella and offers a more Spanish everyday life compared to Puerto Banus, Nueva Andalucia and even Marbella town. The cost of living is lower and, for sure, everyone likes an inexpensive and well-prepared meal or a beer for one or two Euros. San Pedro is also a very family-friendly town with numerous playgrounds, a broad boardwalk far away from cars and the Boulevard de San Pedro, dedicated to children. For the property hunter, the beach side of San Pedro is becoming extremely popular and prices are starting to go up, while in the town centre you can still find a bargain townhouse or apartment.

Leisurely letting time pass at San Pedro’s Boulevard

Without doubt, it was the opening of the Boulevard in December 2014 that has led to the rise in San Pedro de Alcántara’s appeal as a family-friendly town. It was only recently finished, an early European Union project which took 25 years to finalize. Coastal towns had the chance to apply for funding to connect the city with the sea, and San Pedro was one of the lucky ones to get funding. The result was well worth the long wait: with over 50,000 square metres and six different playgrounds, your children have to be in an extremely bad mood to get bored in the Boulevard. The most impressive feature is certainly the central bridge that spans from side to side and that has become heaven for the local rollerskaters and cyclists. It was named “a sea of sensations” by its architect, who clearly had a frustrated calling as a poet.

Find your exclusive hideout in the Guadalminas

San Pedro would be an ideal place to find your second home in a family-friendly and genuine Spanish community. However, if your preferences lean towards luxury villas or exclusive complexes, you should definitely take a look at the area around the Guadalmina river. Guadalmina Baja, the beach side just west of San Pedro, offers many luxury villas and town houses, for people with a taste for tranquillity and comfort. Further up, Guadalmina Alta is a relaxed area benefiting from proximity to great golf courses and service.
