Horta Nord

A shire of orchads

Horta Nord is an area located north of the province of Valencia, and also called "La Gran Valencia". It is made up of numerous towns and villages, with, Puçol (Puzol in Spanish) as capital. In the inland zone of this agricultural region, there are typical constructions called Alquerías or hamlets. They are traditional farms that have been renovated to be functional but also show a rustic look. Do not be surprised if you walk through this interior area, and you find medieval palaces among the orange and rice plantations. This region has many connections, either by train or bus. The C-6 Valencia-Castellón commuter rail line connects the entire Horta Nord with Valencia city, so in less than 1 hour you can have an international airport close by, such as the Valencia airport. It is a good service, since it can be enjoyed every day of the year, including holidays. An essential visit for the little ones is La Costera, a protected natural area of 49 hectares and located just four kilometers away from the beach of Puçol. This eco zone allows you to enjoy the Mediterranean landscape in its pure natural state, since this is the growing ground for a large variety of shrubs, combined with pines, oaks, carob trees and olive trees. The Marjal dels Moros, recognized as ZEPA (Special Protection Area for Birds), is a wetland that houses populations of several species of birds, some of them in serious danger of extinction. As you know, the beaches of Valencia are beautiful so, why do we not take a hiking trip through the Valencian beaches? Starting at the north of the beautiful beaches of Horta Nord, we find the Puzol beach. This beach has two kilometers of protected sand, with all the amenities and services integrated. With no high buildings to obstruct the sight, the beauty of the afternoon sun is one of its advantages. If we keep going down, we will arrive at the Puig Beach, Farnals Beach and the Albulxech Beach, all of them well-known Fallas towns. Fallas represents is like a religion for these inhabitants. In Playa de Puebla de Farnals, they start on March 15, by distributing buñuelos (a desert made out of fried dough) and chocolate for all visitors. The world-famous Fallas are a celebration of the Valencian community distinguished by traditional floats made out of carton-board, which will be burnt alongside with music and dancing with a Valencian touch, meaning lots of gunpowder and fireworks. After having enjoyed these traditional festivals, we will continue to Port Saplaya. On this beach, the cultural offer may be a little scarce, but we still have here a perfect place to relax and rest. Finally, our route will end in Alboraia. The mouth of the Carraixet river is an excellent place for fishing lovers. If this is not your case, just lie down and enjoy an average temperature of 20 degrees Celsius all year. Has this route convinced you to buy a home in Horta Nord? For sure, it has convinced us.
