Marbella - Golden Mile and Nagüeles

Select Golden Mile and Nagüeles

Marbella’s Golden Mile is the name given to the 4 kilometre stretch of coast that separates Marbella Town from Puerto Banús (so strictly speaking it would be over 2 Golden Miles). This, along with Puerto Banús, is the most exclusive area of Marbella and the place to go if you are looking for a luxury property for sale. The area’s journey to becoming the magnet for the rich and famous that it is today is linked with the rise of the Hotel Marbella Club, one of the most luxurious and emblematic in Europe. The Marbella Club was founded in 1954 by German-Spanish entrepreneur Prince Alfonso de Hohenlohe. His personal magnetism and many affluent friendships around the world helped to position the Marbella Club as the place to be for the posh and rich in the sixties and seventies, who would also buy land in the surrounding areas in which to build their luxury villas. The peak for this trend came in the seventies with the arrival of the then Prince Fahd of Saudi Arabia, and the building (now as a king) of his summer residence, the Mar-Mar palace, a 200 acre estate in the Golden Mile area of incalculable worth. If you can afford it, the Golden Mile also holds your personal piece of private, beachfront paradise. And even if you cannot afford to go looking for a property for sale in Marbella’s Golden Mile, it is still a spectacular place to visit.

Plenty of dining, nightlife and entertainment options

You certainly cannot expect the Jet Set and the most glamorous part of society to sit around in their luxury villas doing nothing all day. The Golden Mile does not disappoint and provides some of the best lures in all of Marbella to get you out of your cosy home. For dining, you can start in Hotel Puente Romano (Marbella Club’s little brother hotel, since it was also founded by Prince Alfonso de Hohenlohe). Here, you will find Dani Garcia Restaurant, and its more affordable sidekick, Bibo. Both of them are fantastic, and the perfect places to enjoy the cutting edge cuisine of two Michelin star chef Dani Garcia. Make sure to book a table well in advance or this culinary experience will remain forever out of reach. Other gastronomic options that you may want to check out in the area include Villa Tiberio or Les Cubes. If you are up for some more serious drinking and dancing, then you should definitely visit two of the most popular discos in Marbella, Olivia Valere and Funky Budha (this later, only in the summer season). And for those of you who have healthier hobbies, remember that Marbella will always be a golfer’s paradise and that you can check out one of the best tennis clubs in Spain at Hotel Puente Romano. So, if you go looking for a property for sale in Marbella’s Golden Mile you will never run out of things to do.

Nagüeles and Sierra Blanca: wonderful oasis of tranquillity

Perhaps you are not looking for one of the largest villas but a more modest property for sale then you could go looking close by. You will find other developed areas such as Las Lomas de Marbella Club, Nagüeles or Sierra Blanca, where besides luxury villas, there is also a wider choice of apartments and townhouses. You can find in these areas your own oasis of tranquillity while still being within walking distance of the Golden Mile’s beach side. And you would not be alone. Simon Cowell, the world famous British judge of X-Factor and Britain’s Got Talent has chosen Sierra Blanca for his luxury villa.
