Although Cómpeta only has 4,000 inhabitants, it is considered to be one of the most beautiful white villages in the province of Málaga. Here you can lead a completely rural life in the incomparable setting of the Tejeda and Almijara mountain ranges. Besides that, the town has a unique charm due to its narrow winding streets and small Andalusian-style restaurants. Although just walking around the streets of Cómpeta can mean already a complete workout session, this town is also a perfect starting point for trekking routes through the Sierra de Tejeda which offers numerous options for outdoor sports, including paragliding.
The place with the best views to appreciate the whole beauty of Cómpeta is the Panoramic Viewpoint, which was built in a style influenced by Gaudí’s architecture. If you experience those views, it will be very difficult for you not to fall in love with Cómpeta. This may be the reason why almost one out of every two inhabitants of Cómpeta is an international visitor who has decided to buy a house in Cómpeta. Another advantage of Cómpeta is that, despite being a typical mountain village, it takes only a twenty-five minutes’ drive to arrive to the beaches of Algorrobo Costa or Torrox Costa. It is worth to mention that this is not an easy road, but a path of steep slopes and sharp curves. Taking also into account the difficulties of accessing the hiking passages around the town, if you decide to buy your future home in Cómpeta it is also recommended that you acquire a vehicle of greater power and, if possible, a four-wheel drive.
