Area Guide

Around Madrid

Family friendly options a stone’s throw from the capital.

With the current price level of homes in central Madrid, it is hardly surprising that many of the people working in Madrid prefer to live elsewhere. They have chosen the areas in the suburbs or even farther away, like small towns in the mountains where you are closer to nature. The outer areas are serviced by an excellent network of public transport, making it easy for people to commute to work. The international buyer may want to follow the locals and buy where they buy, closer to nature but still in close proximity of Madrid. Those with a more limited budget may look in the southern areas, like Getafe, Pinto and Valdemoro. There are many industries in Getafe, but the other cities are pure suburbs where people live but don’t necessarily work. They still have their own charm and are living communities, as they are so small. Here you can find a property for sale for an affordable price and a chance to live and integrate into a typical Spanish town.

At the other end of the spectra, we can find several affluent areas for those wanting a more luxurious lifestyle. To the north of Madrid, we, for example find Moraleja, where many actors, football players and businessmen live. There are many great areas for families since there are several international schools, sport clubs and golf courses. In eastern Madrid we have a contender to Moraleja. There is the gated community of La Finca that offers large houses in avant-garde-style with large gardens, parks and 24-hour security. If your budget is somewhere in between you can have a look at the areas of Pozuelo de Alarcón, and Majadahonda Las Rozas. However, the distance to Madrid is a little greater and a car is recommended should you decide to buy in that area. Should you be looking for a historical town to buy in, why don’t you have a look at the university town of Alcala de Henares. It is classed as a world heritage by UNESCO. Apart from the town having beautiful historical buildings it is also the birthplace of the famous Spanish writer Cervantes who wrote Don Quijote. The house where he was born is now a museum, open to the public: Casa Natal de Cervantes Museum. Madrid has a lot to offer anyone who is looking for a property for sale either to create a home or as an investment, either in the central parts of the city or in one of the suburbs.
