Valencia City

Quality of life as a philosophy

Valencia is the third city in Spain in terms of population and is also a widely recognized city by Spaniards for its high quality life. The city is full of history, since it was founded by the Romans in the year 138 BC, after which came the Visigoths, the Arabs and the Christian kingdoms. This cultural and touristic offer is reflected in its wonderful historical center of the ciutat vella, where you should not miss the Plaza de la Virgen and the Plaza del Ayuntamiento. But Valencia has also been able to modernize like no other Spanish city, with new constructions of avant-garde style that harmonize perfectly in its historical frame. Valencia has everything you need to carry out a fulfilling life: 300 sunny days a year, excellent communications, enviable beaches, delicious cuisine and festivals that are recognized worldwide. It is not surprising that this attracts visitors from across the border and that today 12% of residents in Valencia are foreigners, among which a remarkable community of Italians stands out. Why do not you also consider buying a house in Valencia? If we must tempt you to look for a property for sale in Valencia, we can mention a topic that may seem to be a little trite, but who does not know paella? That's right, the most international Spanish dish was born in Valencia. It is easier to cook than it seems, and it is always a good option when it comes to surprising your visitors. The horchata de chufa is also native to Valencia, an ideal drink to cool off after a long walk along the front beach observing the wonderful beaches. And then we have local festivals with a long history and that you probably know about, like Las Fallas or La Tomatina from nearby Buñol. However, Valencia is something more than beach and tradition, since in this city you can visit places with the most modern architecture, among which we will highlight the City of Arts and Sciences and its Oceanogràfic, or the Bioparc of Valencia.

The futuristic city within Valencia

The City of Arts and Sciences is a complex of culture and fun suitable for all ages. Extending over an area of approximately 350,000 m2, we have here an international architectural complex that serves as an emblem for Valencia and its autonomous community. The main buildings are L'Hemisfèric (concave room that offers cinema or planetarium performances), the Oceanogràfic (the largest aquarium in Europe and one of the largest tributes to the seas and oceans of the planet), the Agora (covered complex in which there are many international events), the Queen Sofia Palace of the Arts, L'Umbracle or the Pont de l'Assut de l'Or. The Bioparc of Valencia is a zoological park with the possibility of explore animal habitats, as they really are in wild nature. We can say of it that is unique "in its species", no pun intended. If you decide to buy a house in Valencia, places like this will help the little ones enjoy their Sunday afternoons. We can be with the funny lemurs of Madagascar, with the leopards, gorillas or elephants of Central Africa or with crocodiles and hippopotamuses of the Nile. Great experiences that will remain in your memory for a long time.

Covered to-my-toes

Forty kilometers into the interior of the province of Valencia, in the municipality of Buñol, we find one of the most international festivities in Spain. Many visitors may think: a place to toss tomatoes and never stop laughing? Here we go! Welcome to La Tomatina, the most important tomatoes launch festival in the world. This is a singular event in which participants settle their differences by throwing tomatoes to each other. This is certainly a much healthier and funnier war than the conventional one. Since 1945, this unusual tomato war has been celebrated the last Wednesday of August, during the week of patron festivities in Buñol. Countless international tourists take advantage of this celebration to visit Spain.

A city where you will never get bored

Although we consider that you have to go to La Tomatina de Buñol at least once in your life, it is also true that you do not have to leave the city of Valencia to enjoy the best local festivities. The most well-known of these are the Fallas, which are celebrated on March 19, when the city is filled with huge papier-mache statues that illustrate satirical motifs that will be destroyed during the night by fire. Valencia becomes for one day a festival of gunpowder and fire which cannot be compared with any other in the world. The Fallas give, of course, good chances of obtaining some extra short term rental income to anyone who has decided to buy a home in Valencia And just when the Fallas end, spring begins, and with it, the time to enjoy the beaches. Valencia has six very high quality urban beaches and many more around its surroundings. They are magnificent beaches, proudly showing their blue flags and modern facilities, where you can enjoy water sports or just relax and empty your mind. But if for you the best use of the beach is to sleep off the hangover from the night before, then you are in luck. Valencia is known throughout Spain for having one of the largest concentrations of nightclubs and discos. In fact, during the 90s, Valencia was the recognized nightlife mecca in all of Spain, when young people from far away cities like Madrid and Barcelona attended massively every weekend the so-called "Ruta del Bakalao". Fortunately for the livers of those youngsters from Madrid and Barcelona, those crazy times are already gone. However, the merits of Valencia to continue to be one of the great nightlife capitals in Spain are still unrivalled.
