Los Alcázares

Enjoy the Mar Menor from Los Alcázares

The Mar Menor is a geographical oddity that constitutes the greatest tourist attraction of the Costa Cálida and the Murcia region. Separated from the Mediterranean by the narrow Manga, this salty lagoon maintains its own characteristics, with optimal saline and mineral properties for therapeutic treatments, in addition to a temperature that never drops below 19 degrees. A perfect base, from which to enjoy the beaches of this area is Los Alcázares (15,000 inhabitants during the year and 100,000 in summer). Located on the east coast of the Mar Menor, it has direct access to the beaches of Las Salinas, Los Narejos, Palmeras and others, suitable for water sports (although if you are passionate about surfing, the calm waters of the Mar Menor won’t offer you many challenges). All this, seasoned with a good number of bars, restaurants and beach bars it adds up to be a pretty perfect Spanish costal town. Should you wish to explore outside of Los Alcázares, Santiago de la Ribera is just a few kilometres away, where you can find even more variety. In Los Alcázares the tourism is mainly Spanish, although the number of foreign visitors increases every year. Los Alcázares may be a good option for the international buyer who is looking for a quiet area for some family time, without having to bump into a fellow national every few steps. The proximity of the airport of Murcia (10 minutes) and Alicante (1 hour) is also an important factor to take into account.
