Area Guide

Mallorca South

Here one finds the clearest light

If you are looking to get away from the touristy areas of Mallorca, but at the same time be well connected with both the capital and the airport, why not hop in the car and explore the southern part of the island? In addition to spectacular views, here you will find genuine villages, whose inhabitants make their livelihood from handicraft and agriculture. Since not depending exclusively on tourism the area is open all year around. You must explore the street-market where you can buy all kinds of artisan products, as well as taste the typical Mallorcan cuisine. The towns of Llucmayor and Campos, closer to Palma, are a good choice to begin your exploration of the south.

The walled coast

On the southern coast, you can still see the remains of walls that were for protection against pirate attacks. At that time just as today the light is what really stands out. As one can read in one of the quotes of the poet Miquel Costa i Llobera on the beach of Es Trenc, "Un trova la llum més claro" here one finds the clearest light. On the natural beach of Es Trenc you can enjoy a relaxed day with family and friends and, if you are a bit daring, you can even go skinny-dipping.

Santanyí and Cabrera: Unforgettable excursions

The Town of Santanyí and its cove has turned into an artistic centre since many national and international artists have chosen it as their residence. Nearby you can take a trip to the fantastic Natural Park of Mondragó. And speaking of excursions, why not spend a day visiting the only uninhabited island in the Balearic Islands? From the port of Colonia de San Jordi there are boats heading to the Cabrera archipelago, where you can have a picnic or enjoy what the Cabrera seabed can offer to scuba divers.
