Estepona

Relaxed Estepona

Estepona is an ideal town for those who want to live close to the heart of Costa del Sol, but who prefer the slower pace. To find a property for sale and to buy it in Estepona means you buy yourself a little piece of authentic Spain yet close to the jet set lifestyle of Puerto Banús. Estepona is a town that takes pride in caring for its original soul as an Andalusian fishing village. And they are doing a stellar job as you can see in the beautiful and narrow Andalusian white streets in the town centre, always lovingly decorated with hanging geranium pots.

An urban garden in the Costa del Sol

In recent years, Estepona has made a significant effort to beautify the city by planting over 90,000 new flowers and plants, with the city being widely referred to as “the Garden of the Costa del Sol”. An immediate result of this work has been the embellishment of 65 town centre streets with traditional flower pots so characteristic of Andalusian villages. In addition, over 400,000 square metres of green areas in the town precinct have been renewed with additional plants and flowers. Add to this, an impressive botanical park and orchid house that features a 17 metre high waterfall, and Estepona’s claim to be the green city where your family can thrive is further reinforced.

Some of the longest beaches on the coast

Estepona isn’t just a green little oasis, it is also beautifully located along the shoreline. On the town’s immediate waterfront, you cannot miss the promenade running alongside La Rada beach, a 2.4 km stretch of fine sand surrounded by lively chiringuitos, as well as some garden areas that are perfect for the family and for those practising water sports. Besides this, Estepona boasts 16 charming beaches along 21 kilometres of coast, including El Saladillo beach, with almost 3 kilometres of sand stretching west of the city. The beach offer at Estepona will be even more appealing in the coming years, with the completion of a boardwalk project that will link the town’s beaches along the shoreline all the way to Marbella and Puerto Banús. The perfect Sunday morning plan for the future: biking along the boardwalk to the high class charms of Banús.

Lively marina and fishing port

You don’t need to own a yacht to enjoy Estepona’s marina in the western part of town. A short walk along the port should suffice to entertain you, allowing you to watch the luxurious boats. Later on, you can enjoy some drinks and Spanish tapas or even end the night dancing in some nightclub. For a more genuine take on life, head to the fishing port, to the west, where you can watch the fishing boats arrive early in the morning and may even observe the auctioning of fish. It is well worth a visit, you can even go straight from the night club or set your alarm on early. Afterwards, you can have a delicious breakfast while watching the sun rise above the sea. It is easy to understand why Estepona is a favourite with the international crowd looking for a property for sale as a holiday home or a permanent residence. The prices are lower than neighbouring Puerto Banús but you still get the best Spain has to offer.
